FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are your service fees?
My service fees are unique to your individual needs and therefore require an in-depth call which you can book here or you can fill in a pricing questionnaire and I will email you with a tailored quotation.
Can't I do my own tax return?
Absolutely! Its your income from your trade, however if you are looking for the correct ways to save on tax then really you need someone who is experienced and qualified to complete your tax return, especially if you have a number of different income streams. It can get quite complicated and a bookkeeper will know what expenses are allowable.
If I'm not legally obliged to submit my accounts, then why do I need them?
There are many benefits to keeping accounts for your trade or small business, the main one being to aid you in submitting your self assessment tax return, the second big reason for keeping accounts is so that you can see how profitable you are and where you may be able to cut costs and save money and the third reason is so that you can see whether you are in a position to grow!
Can I visit you in person?
Of course I would love to meet you in person however I do not have suitable offices for visitors and therefore would suggest a public meeting place of mutual distance, such as a cafe. I do love a Mocha!
How regularly will we meet if I hire you as my Bookkeeper?
We will meet virtually via Zoom as often as required but no more than once a month.
What are your opening hours?
My core hours of work are currently Tuesday - Thursday 9am - 5pm, however as of September 2022 this will change to Monday - Friday 9am - 3pm.
What accounting software do you use?
Primarily I use Xero and will always recommend it to my clients as I believe it to be the best, however I sometimes use FreeAgent if I feel it's more suitable. If you are a Quickbooks user and want to remain with them, then I am able to refer you to another bookkeeper who uses that software.
What happens next if I decide to start working with you?
Fab news! Once you have accepted my proposal, I will send you a letter of engagement for you to sign along with my terms and conditions. I will then need to carry out the necessary AML checks before I can commence work which will require you to provide me with photo ID and a recent document as proof of address.
What happens if I decide to cancel my contract with you?
No problem, not all relationships are meant to be and so I will require 28 days notice and I will provide the same terms to you if for any reason I decide to disengage.
Can you do my Payroll?
Absolutely, it can be provided as part of your package or an individual service.
Can you do my VAT return?
Of course, this can be added to your package if you are registered for VAT.
Will I get a monthly report?
I can provide monthly reports if you require them as part of your package and we can also discuss them in a monthly Zoom call.
I haven't done any bookkeeping for a while, will this be a problem?
I do offer bookkeeping catch ups/clean ups and charge an hourly rate of £30 to bring your bookkeeping up to date.
How will I share my paperwork with you if you work remotely?
Great question and I'm glad you asked! With your Xero subscription you will also receive a free subscription to Hubdoc. You can use Hubdoc to upload your invoices and receipts either by email forwarding, scanning or by snapping a picture on your phone using the Hubdoc app, it really is as easy as that. Hubdoc is almost like an online filing cabinet and integrates with cloud storage platforms such as Box, Dropbox and Google Drive.
How can I make a complaint about a service I have received?
In most instances I would hope that we will be able to build a strong enough relationship for you to have the confidence to speak to me directly about any concerns you may have, however the official policy states that all complaints be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can I make a payment for your services?
In the first instance I will send you a payment link via Crezco for you to set up a recurring monthly payment to leave your account on the 1st of each month, but I do also except payment via Stripe and bacs transfer. If paying by Stripe or bacs transfer, I trust that the payment be made promptly and within 7 days on invoice.
